A state program that offers a free wind mitigation inspection and matching grants to harden eligible single-family homes, including impact windows and doors.

Lower insurance premiums

Florida insurers must offer wind mitigation discounts. When every opening of the home is protected (windows, doors, garage door and skylights), the opening protection credit can significantly reduce the wind portion of your premium.

  • A licensed inspector documents it on the official wind mitigation form (OIR-B1-1802).
  • Ask your insurance agent how much you could save.
